W. E. Corcran Dies at 87;

Funeral to Be Held Today

W. E. Corcran, 87, died Wednesday at 1:30 a. M. in Woodlawn Convalescent Home at Waterloo, where be had been a patient for 3 weeks. He had been ill of a heart condition for some time and had been a patient recently in an Iowa City hospital. Death came while he was asleep at the convalescent home.

The funeral will be held this Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Overton funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Roy Biesemeyer. Pallbearers will be Wayne Gross, Norman and Donald. Corcran, Clifford and James Corcran and Wilbur Corcran Jr. interment will be in Spencer cemetery in Geneseo Township.

William Edward Corcran was born Oct. 25, 1873, at Stone Hill, Mo., a son of William and Mary Elizabeth Corcran. He was married at Stone Hill to Minnie WilhiIte on Aug. 11, 1895, and the couple, farmed near there for more than 20 years. They moved to Iowa in 1919, settling on a farm near the site of Mooreville. Six years later, Mr. Corcran lost one of his hands in an accidental explosion, He continued farming, with the aid of his sons, for a few years, then moved to Dysart, Mr. Corcran was actively engaged in masonry work here until about 10 years ago.

Surviving are the wife; three sons, Wilbur and Vannie of Dysart, and Claude of Santa Monica, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Jackson Wenner and Mrs. Arthur Gross of Waterloo; one brother, John Corcran of Dysart; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Lutzenburger of Amory, Miss., and Mrs. Ida Hansen of St. Louis, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
