Death of an Old Citizen.
(Died February 20, 1876)
Mr. J. C. Lutzenberger an old and highly respected citizen, died at his residence on West Third street, of dyspepsia, yesterday afternoon. Mr. Lutzenberger came to this city in 1841, and during his long residence here has maintained the reputation of an honorable and upright man, and his death will be regretted by a host of warm personal friends He was a native of Germany, and 68 years of age.
The death of Mr. Lutzenberger caused many friends of the family to weep and the wife of several children to mourn for one whom they much loved and respected: but the loss is his gain. Mr. L. moved from Germany to this country when quite young, and resided in Dayton for a number of years. He was a man of peaceable habits and much respected by our German citizens. His death will not soon be forgotten. Several hundred people were at his funeral, and heard parson Winter's discourse. After the sermon, his remains were handed over to the I. O. O. F., who together with a large number of friends and relatives, escorted it to Woodland, where the last tribute of respect was shown. The procession was over one mile in length.
